Retirement Markets
Position Overview
Senior Analyst, Retirement Markets
This senior analyst position is based in the Boston office in the Retirement practice and reports to the senior analyst, retirement. The practice focuses on trends related to the retirement markets, including:
- Trends in the 401(k), 403(b), 457 and other defined contribution markets
- Defined contribution investment only (DCIO) strategies for asset managers, including target-date funds
- Strategies in the recordkeeper market, including participant engagement and service offerings
- Trends in personal retirement planning, including the IRA market and retirement income
Successful candidates for this position are hardworking, persistent, and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for financial services industry research and analysis.
The position offers significant industry exposure, including interactions with senior executives, coverage in industry publications, and potentially presenting at conferences and events.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Contribute to research initiatives for three annual research reports and a quarterly periodical
- Author research report content related to emerging industry trends
- Build quantitative surveys and models, including survey design, data gathering, data modeling and analysis, and exhibit creation
- Conduct ongoing qualitative research related to report themes
- Manage report projects and deadlines
- Solicit and interview senior executives about emerging industry trends
- Manage partnerships with industry trade associations and publications
- Assist account managers with client inquiries related to the practice’s research content
Qualifications:
- 5 to 8 years of experience in financial services, preferably related to the retirement industry
- Knowledge of defined contribution plans and investments
- Exposure to personal retirement planning, including retirement income
- Superior writing skills
- Aptitude for synthesizing research, identifying trends, and providing commentary on relevant industry issues
- Ability to work well autonomously, as well as on a team
- Strong attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy
- Ability to work on many initiatives concurrently and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Excel; able to manipulate, and analyze sizeable amounts of data; experience with SPSS or Alteryx is a plus
- Seeks to build deep industry expertise
- Ability to cultivate a network of industry contacts for research purposes
- College degree; completion of, or progress toward advanced designations, such as CIMA® or CFA® is a plus

Associate Analyst
Wealth Management
Position Overview
Associate Analyst, Wealth Management
The Associate Analyst, Wealth Management is a full-time role based in the Boston office. The person in this position will work within the Wealth Management practice and report to the Associate Director, Wealth Management. Cerulli’s Wealth Management practice focuses on trends related to financial advisors and related intermediaries, including:
- In-depth competitive analysis and qualitative coverage of the largest B/Ds and RIA custodians
- Needs, challenges, risks, and opportunities facing financial advisors
- Competitive dynamics underlying marketshare shifts across wirehouse, RIA, independent B/D, private bank, family office, and other advisor affiliation models
- Distribution strategies for retail asset management products sold through financial advisors
- Strategy for distribution teams, including structure, compensation, and resource allocation
This position is ideal for someone who is analytical and quantitatively oriented, exhibits strong writing skills, works autonomously, is adaptable, is comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously, and seeks to build deep industry expertise. Responsibilities and Duties:
- Use IBM SPSS and Microsoft Excel software to implement Cerulli’s proprietary broker/dealer database
- Continuously work to innovate databases, SPSS syntax, Excel models, and outputs
- Fully document and update all processes
- Create exhibits using SPSS, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Collect data from public company filings and other sources for quarterly/annual market sizing projects
- Build, test, and manage surveys using Qualtrics online survey software
- Scrub raw survey data to minimize invalid responses and identify outliers
- Develop lists of senior executives and solicit their participation in the research processes
- Support data needs for partnerships with industry trade associations and publications
- Shadow research calls with senior executives to build subject-matter expertise
- Support the practices’ strategic consulting engagements
- Write key implications for data exhibits in research reports
Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of experience in financial services; prior experience working with financial advisors is a plus
- Proficient in Excel; able to manipulate and analyze sizeable amounts of data
- Experience with, or the desire to learn, IBM SPSS software
- Superior quantitative acumen is a must
- Comfort with soliciting survey and research call participation with industry executives
- Strong attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and manage projects
- Aptitude for synthesizing research and identifying trends
- Desire to learn survey development and Qualtrics survey engine
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Preference is for a candidate with a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or economics

Position Overview
Senior Analyst, Wealth Management – Broker/Dealers
This senior analyst position works within the Wealth Management practice and reports to an Associate Director, Wealth Management. This role is based out of the Boston office.
We are seeking a candidate with experience related specifically to broker/dealers, including wirehouses, banks, independents, as well as national and regional firms. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of these organizations, including the opportunities and challenges they face, financial advisor portfolio construction, and product use.
The position is ideal for someone who is analytical and quantitatively-oriented, exhibits strong writing skills, works autonomously, is adaptable, comfortable working on multiple project simultaneously, and seeks to build deep industry expertise. Successful candidates for this position are hardworking, persistent, and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for financial services industry research and analysis.

- Author timely thought-leadership content for the quarterly Cerulli Edge U.S. Advisor Edition
- Assist in building quantitative surveys and models, including survey design, data gathering, data modeling and analysis, and exhibit creation
- Manage report projects and deadlines
- Support strategic consulting and custom research engagements that pertain to the practice
- Provide client-support, including conference calls and live meetings, related to the annual report
- Assist account managers with client inquiries related to the practice’s research content
- Solicit and interview senior executives regarding emerging industry trends
- Manage any necessary partnerships with industry trade associations, publications, and media
The position offers significant industry exposure, including interactions with senior executives throughout the industry, coverage in industry publications, and potentially presenting at conferences and events.
Qualifications:
- Five to 10 years of experience in financial services related to retail wealth and/or asset management trends
- Deep understanding of B/Ds, retail asset management, portfolio construction, and wealthtech
- Exposure to financial advisors and their investment decision making process
- Superior writing and communication skills
- Aptitude for synthesizing research, identifying trends, and providing commentary on relevant industry issues
- Attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy
- Ability to successfully execute on multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Excel; able to manipulate, and analyze sizeable amounts of data
- Experience with Alteryx and/or SPSS is a plus
- Ability to cultivate a network of industry contacts for research purposes
