Survey Analyst

Position Overview:

This is a dual role as both Survey Analyst and working as part of CA’s Managed Accounts practice. As Survey Analyst, the role supports all CA research practices in administrating approximately 50 recurring online surveys, targeting institutions and financial advisors via our password-protected survey engine and a third-party survey engine. Findings serve as the quantitative foundation for our published research. Role requires daily interaction with Analysts across Cerulli’s U.S. practices, frequent interaction with Editorial and International and sporadic interaction with Marketing.

The role also directly supports CA’s Managed Accounts practice’s research processes. This includes data gathering, analysis, chart assembly, and providing qualitative support when appropriate. This role may include interaction with survey participants at Cerulli clients. In addition, this position may be called on to support consulting projects in other practices on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Survey Creation

  • Work with all Analysts to develop surveys
  • Code surveys and post to our survey engine
  • Finalize surveys in third-party engine (includes branching, formatting, setting response quotas, etc.)
  • Coordinate and improve upon our internal survey processes, including documentation and training
  • Provide backup support for surveys generated in Singapore and London
  • Dedicated support of Institutional Asset Management’s survey creation and participant panels

Data Collection

  • “Close out” all surveys and download data
  • Prepare data for analysis (includes sorting, text file translation, basic segmentation, calculations, clean up, etc.)
  • Field participant concerns and questions via phone and email

Troubleshooting

  • Work with external programmers to resolve issues with survey engine or internal process system
  • Communicate with external survey participants and clients when survey issues arise

Benchmarking

  • Prepare benchmarking reports for participants in Tableau dashboard software
  • Format data for inclusion in reports
  • Interact with Relationship Manager and Analysts to ensure timely and accurate distribution of reports

Analyst Support

  • Assist with management and collection of quarterly Managed Account data, including interaction with survey participants at Cerulli clients
  • Develop the skills needed to provide qualitative support of Managed Account practice, including writing about key trends
  • Work with all individual practices on an as-needed basis
  • Support consulting projects across all practices as necessary

Qualifications:

  • 0-1 years of experience with strong analytical, writing, and communication skills
  • Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Excel;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Tableau, SPSS, Qualtrics, and SQL is helpful but not required
  • Ability to multi-task and to change course quickly as needed
  • Experience with financial services, particularly asset management, is a plus. Willingness and ability to proactively develop expertise in the institutional marketplace and contribute to quarterly, monthly, or annual publications
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Capacity to respond productively to feedback and make ongoing improvements to approach and process

Senior Analyst, Retirement Markets

Position Overview:

This Senior Analyst position is based in the Boston Office in the Retirement practice and reports to the Director, Retirement. The practice focuses on trends related to the Retirement markets, including:

  • Trends in the 401(k), 403(b), 457 and other defined contribution markets
  • Defined contribution investment only (DCIO) strategies for asset managers, including target-date funds
  • Strategies in the recordkeeper market, including participant engagement and service offerings
  • Trends in personal retirement planning, including the IRA market and retirement income
  • Cerulli is seeking a candidate with experience related to the retirement markets, including both defined contribution and personal retirement planning.

Successful candidates for this position are analytical and quantitatively-oriented, exhibit strong writing skills, work autonomously, are adaptable and comfortable multi-tasking, and seek to build deep industry expertise. They are also hardworking, persistent, and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for financial services industry research and analysis.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The Senior Analyst has extensive analysis, data modeling, and writing responsibilities. The position contributes to research initiatives for three annual research reports and a quarterly periodical. The Senior Analyst will:

  • Author research report content related to emerging industry trends
  • Build quantitative surveys and models, including survey design, data gathering, data modeling and analysis, and exhibit creation
  • Conduct ongoing qualitative research related to report themes
  • Manage report projects and deadlines
  • Solicit and interview senior executives about emerging industry trends
  • Manage partnerships with industry trade associations and publications
  • Assist account managers with client inquiries related to the practice’s research content

The position offers significant industry exposure, including interactions with senior executives throughout the industry, coverage in industry publications, and potentially presenting at conferences and events.

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in financial services, preferably related to the retirement industry
  • Knowledge of defined contribution plans and investments
  • Exposure to personal retirement planning, including retirement income
  • Superior writing skills
  • Aptitude for synthesizing research, identifying trends, and providing commentary on relevant industry issues
  • Strong attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Excel; able to manipulate, and analyze sizeable amounts of data; experience with SPSS is a plus
  • Ability to cultivate a network of industry contacts for research purposes
  • College degree; completion of, or progress toward, CIMA® or CFA® is a plus

Office/HR Coordinator:

Position Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working individual to be the Office/HR Coordinator. The person who fills this position will sit at our front desk, but will report to the Director of Human Resources & Administration. They will be the first person that all visitors will meet, so always operating in a professional manner is important.

Successful candidates for this position are self-motivated, extremely detail oriented and have a general enthusiasm for helping people with a smile.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Office:

  • Answer the main telephone line, screen and direct calls – take and relay messages as needed
  • Maintain all office visitor security; coordinate with building security to clear guests, maintain visitor log, assign/retract security badges as appropriate, greet and direct all visitors etc.
  • Manage all office mail, which includes: receiving, sorting and delivering, picking up daily newspapers, and mailing out packages as necessary
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining all office orders including: office supplies, fruit delivery, snacks, coffee etc.
  • In charge of maintaining all physical office space, for example: keep all office common areas tidy (kitchen, lobby, conference rooms), coordinate with building management as needed for repairs (lights, electrical, heat/cool, etc.), other items as they arise
  • Work with Building Impact for philanthropic events and building-wide donation drives

Associate Analyst, Retirement Markets

The position is based in the Boston office and focuses on research related to institutional asset management. The position reports into the Associate Director responsible for Retirement research.

The practice focuses on trends related to the Retirement markets, including:

  • Trends in the 401(k), 403(b), 457 and other defined contribution markets
  • Defined contribution investment only (DCIO) strategies for asset managers, including target-date funds
  • Strategies in the recordkeeper market, including participant engagement and service offerings
  • Trends in personal retirement planning, including the IRA market and retirement income

The position is ideal for someone who is analytical and quantitatively-oriented, exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills, works autonomously, is adaptable and comfortable multi-tasking, and seeks to build deep industry expertise.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Generate quantitative analytics and manage projects for research, publishing, and consulting needs
  • Assist in the development and analysis of proprietary surveys, interfacing with Survey Analyst to administer surveys and chart results
  • Help develop focused research panels, calling and emailing targeted participants to increase survey participation
  • Schedule research calls and meetings with senior executives, and capture detailed notes
  • Collaborate with other analysts in Retirement practice on monthly and quarterly publications; Duties include data-gathering, analysis, chart creation and assembly, and writing commentary
  • Attend research calls with senior executives to build subject-matter expertise
  • Coordinate projects for the practices’ strategic consulting and custom research engagements
  • Participate in research efforts by identifying key topics of interest and providing ideas and input throughout the report cycle

Qualifications:

  • 0 - 3 years’ experience in financial services, preferably in a product management, research, or analytical role; Understanding of institutional asset management is helpful
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills; general understanding of basic investing concepts
  • Superior quantitative acumen is a must; proficient in Excel (e.g., pivot tables and VLOOKUPS)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize and analyze large amounts of data with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong time management skills with ability to meet deadlines, and manage projects
